Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane Visits Ladakh, Interacts With Soldiers Injured in Galwan Valley Clash

Amid Indo-Sino standoff in Ladakh, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Manoj Mukund Naravane visited the union territory. During his two-day visit to Ladakh, General Naravane interacted with the soldiers, who were injured during the violent face-off with People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Galwan Valley, at Leh Military Hospital.

The COAS compliment all ranks of soldiers for their dedication toward the duty.  Gen Naravane’s visit came a day after Army Commander’s Conference was held in Delhi on Monday. During the Conference, the Army Chief discussed the security situation along the northern and  western fronts with top commanders. On Monday, Lieutenant General-level meeting was held between the Indian and Chinese armies to ease tensions between the two countries following the violent clashes in Galwan Valley. The meeting began at around 11:30 am at Moldo on the Chinese side of Chushul sector. It started at aroung 11:30 am  and continued till night. Both the nations have reached the “mutual consensus” to disengage in eastern Ladakh. The violent clashes erupted on the intervening night of June 15 and 16. In the face-off 20 Indian Army soldiers, including a commanding officer of Bihar Regiment, were martyred. According to reports, 45 PLA soldiers were killed or severely injured in the clashes. However, China have not yet confirmed the number of casualties suffered by its army. Idian and Chinese troops were engaged in an eyeball-to-eyeball situation in Galwan Valley since the first week of May. he two armies are engaged in a standoff in Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley, Demchok and Daulat Beg Oldie in eastern Ladakh.
