Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday commissioned India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi. During the event, the Prime Minister also unveiled the new Naval Ensign (Nishaan), doing away with the colonial past and befitting the rich Indian maritime heritage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission the first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, on Friday at Cochin Shipyard in Kochi. It will strengthen India’s naval capabilities. Notably, INS Vikrant is the largest ship ever built in India’s maritime history. The Prime Minister will also unveil the new Naval ensign of the Indian Navy.
Lt Gen Vijay Kumar Mishra, AVSM, has taken over as the 51st Commandant of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun on August 31. He paid his tribute at the War Memorial in a solemn ceremony recognising the supreme sacrifice of brave soldiers for the nation.
Lt Gen Harinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, Commandant, Indian Military Academy will finally bid adieu to the Olive Greens on 31 Aug 2022 after an illustrious career spanning over nearly 40 years and having tenated important Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. During a simple and solemn ceremony being held at the War Memorial, IMA, the General Officer paid homage to the soldiers, who in line of duly have laid down their lives for the Nation.
Now, fifty years down the line, the 49th Regular and 33rd Technical Courses are commemorating this momentous occasion of their Golden Jubilee in the hallowed portals of the Indian Military Academy. It has been a long journey, with every member of this distinguished group having served his country with honour and pride. Quite a few have risen to dizzying heights, one amongst which is General Bikram Singh who rose to become the Army Chief.
A total of 377 Gentleman Cadets of 150 Regular Course and 133 Technical Graduate Course, including 89 Gentleman Cadets from eight friendly foreign countries successfully passed out from the portals of Indian Military Academy on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
The historic Chetwode Drill Square played host to the Commandant’s Parade for Spring Term 2022 on 09 Jun. The Commandant’s Parade marked the successful culmination of pre-commission training of 377 Indian and 89 Gentleman Cadets from eight friendly foreign countries.
