A heated confrontation between an Indian Army Commanding Officer (CO) and an Assistant Defence Estate Officer (ADEO) has triggered widespread reactions online, particularly among defence veterans. The dispute reportedly escalated after ADEO Triyam Singh refused to sign critical documents for a Line of Control (LoC) fencing project. Singh allegedly assaulted the Commanding Officer. The incident was recorded on CCTV, and soon its video went viral on social media. The exact location and the date of the incident is not known.
Colonel Ankush Chaudhary, the CO of the engineer regiment, was overseeing a strategic fencing initiative along the LoC. Notably, the project is intended to prevent infiltration following a recent attack in Pahalgam. When ADEO Singh allegedly refused to approve key board proceedings needed for the project’s progress, Colonel Chaudhary visited his office to resolve the matter.
However, during the meeting, Singh allegedly assaulted the Colonel. In response, soldiers from Colonel Chaudhary’s unit reportedly retaliated against the official.
The incident gained attention after Army veteran Lt Col (Retd.) Sushil Singh Sheoran shared the video on social media platform X. In his post, he accused the Defence Estate Office (DEO) of corruption, alleging that it often obstructs military infrastructure projects unless bribes are paid.
“The Defence Estate Office (DEO) within the Ministry of Defence is known for its corruption and often tries to stall projects in exchange for bribes,” Lt Col (R) Sheoran said.
The story quickly gained traction, with strong reactions flooding in from the armed forces community. Many backed the troops’ response, citing the unbreakable bond between a CO and his men.
Retired Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon (@TinyDhillon) wrote, “To soldiers, a CO is next only to God. Any harm to him carries serious consequences. A CO is duty-bound to protect his men—and his men will do the same for him.”

Former Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Devendra Pratap Pandey (@LtGenDPPandey) stated, “Touching a CO is like striking a match near gunpowder—especially when his soldiers are present. Proud of their loyalty.”

As of now, there has been no official response from the Indian Army or the Ministry of Defence regarding the incident.
