In what could be termed as a remarkable innovation, a 21-year-old fashion design student, Khushi Pathan, has successfully designed a solar-powered uniform for Indian soldiers. The uniform will enable soldiers to charge their electronic devices on the go, helping them stay connected with their units, which will enhance operational efficiency.
Khushi started her ambitious project in February this year, reported Ssbcrack. The 21-year-old student reportedly gathered insights and feedback from a diverse group comprising 10 to 12 civilians and four to five active military officers. This played a key role in refining the design and improving its functionality for practical implementation.
According to the report, the solar-powered uniform has discreet wiring compartments. It allows the seamless integration of solar panels, with a focus on keeping it lightweight and flexible.
The uniform is currently undergoing trials. The student also focused on maintaining a military aesthetic. Khushi has exuded confidence in the adoption of the uniform by the Indian Army.
BITS Pilani Students Develop Drones:
Last month, two students from BITS Pilani’s Hyderabad campus shook the defence circles with their innovation. Jayant Khatri and Saurya Chaudhury have developed radar-evading, bomb-dropping drones, reported DD News. The duo also gave a successful demonstration of these drones to the Indian Army at Chandigarh.
These drones are now being inducted into the Indian Army. The innovation is considered a major boost to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat or Make-in-India initiative. Khatri belongs to Rajasthan’s Ajmer, while Chaudhury is from West Bengal’s Kolkata.
This advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can reportedly fly at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour. It can evade enemy radar systems and carry out precision strikes. The students established Apolland Dynamics and will start supplying these state-of-the-art drones to the armed forces within just two months, reported the government-owned media outlet.
