Harish Kajla, a serving Deputy Commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF), secured an impressive fifth position in the demanding 100-mile Border Hell Race, held on December 6 and 7 in the Thar Desert.
The ultramarathon, considered one of India’s toughest endurance challenges, witnessed over 1,200 runners from across the country. Covering 160 kilometers through harsh desert terrain, the race concluded at the historic Longewala War Memorial, adding a unique patriotic significance to the event.
Harish completed the gruelling distance in 18 hours 32 minutes 16 seconds, demonstrating exceptional endurance, discipline, and mental resilience.
This achievement adds to his exceptional year and growing list of milestones in endurance sports. Notably, he became the first CAPF officer to complete an Ironman triathlon, finishing the Ironman Copenhagen 2024 — a full-distance event consisting of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride, and 42.2 km run.
His 2024 highlights include:
A Personal Best marathon of 3:14:32 at NDM Delhi
Bill Rowan Medal at Comrades Marathon, South Africa (8:53:06)
Two successful finishes in 100-mile ultramarathons
First CAPF officer to complete Ironman Copenhagen 2024
His consistent achievements stand as an inspiration for athletes and reflect the strong culture of fitness, determination, and resilience within the BSF and the CAPFs.
