The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to procure Dassault Aviation’s 24 second-hand Mirage 2000 fighters to strengthen its ageing fleet of fourth-generation fighters, reported Hindustan Times. The IAF will also reportedly acquire parts for its two existing Mirage 2000 squadrons. A contract worth 27 million euros has been initiated by the force.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday, i.e. July 28, operationalised the second Rafale squadron after “Golden Arrows”. The IAF formally inducted Rafale aircraft into No. 101 Squadron at Air Force Station Hasimara in Eastern Air Command (EAC). Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria attended the induction ceremony.
Flt Lt Shivangi Singh Becomes First Woman Fighter Pilot to Join Rafale’s ‘Golden Arrows’ Squadron
Lieutenant Shivangi SIngh on Tuesday became the first woman fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF’s) Rafale squadron “Golden Arrows”. Flt Lt Shivangi Singh was commissioned into the IAF in 2017. She was part of the the IAF’s second batch of women fighter pilots. Flt Lt Singh is currently undergoing conversion training, and will become part of Squadron no. 17, which is based in Ambala.

IAF to Receive First Batch of Rafale Jets Next Month; Warplanes to be Equipped With SCALP Missiles by 2020
