Today, i.e. June 27, 2020, is the 12th death anniversary of Indian Army's first Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw. Field Marshal Manekshaw was the eighth Indian Army chief. He was the brain behind India’s victory against Pakistan in 1971. Manekshaw was born in a Parsi family on April 3, 1914, to Hormizd Manekshaw and Hilla Mehta, in Amritsar.

The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the Indian Military Academy's (IMA's) spring term will take place on June 13 at the historic Chetwode Drill Square. This time due to the coronavirus pandemic, parents of the gentlemen cadets will not be able to attend the IMA POP Spring Term 2020. The entire POP will be live streamed on the official youtube channel of the Indian Army -ADGPI.
The historic Chetwode Drill Square played host to the Commandant’s Parade for Spring Term 2020 on 11 Jun. The Commandant’s Parade marked the culmination of training of 333 Indian and 90 Gentlemen Cadets from nine friendly foreign countries. Owing to the COVID-19 precautionary guidelines, only the IMA staff and other the trainees witnessed the impressive Parade. Social distancing was also followed during the parade.
The awards are a true recognition of the tremendous achievements of the Gentlemen Cadets and acknowledge their pursuit for excellence not only confined to academics but encompassing the whole range of activities that make for a well rounded and balanced training.
