Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday applauded the Indian Naval pilots for carrying out the landing of LCA Tejas (Navy) on the indigenously-developed aircraft INS Vikrant. PM Modi, while responding to a tweet by the Indian Navy on the landing of the aircraft on INS Vikrant, said that the efforts for achieving self-reliance are on full swing.
The Prime Minister tweeted, “Excellent! The efforts towards Aatmanirbharta are on with full vigour.” Notably, Indian Naval pilots performed the landing and take-off of LCA Tejas (Navy) and Mig-29K onboard the aircraft carrier on February 6.
PM Modi’s Tweet:
After the landing of these aircraft onboard INS Vikrant, Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff had said, “The successful landing and take-off of the indigenous LCA Navy on India’s first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier is a momentous step forward towards the realisation of our collective vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. The maiden landing of the Mig-29K also heralds the integration of the fighter aircraft with INS Vikrant. Congratulations to all those who made it happen.”
Notably, INS Vikrant is the first indigenous aircraft carrier and the most complex warship ever built by our country. The aircraft carrier was designed in-house by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Cochin Shipyard Limited. The aircraft carrier was commissioned into the Indian Navy on September 2, 2022, by PM Modi.
The HAL Tejas is also an indigenously-built aircraft. It is an Indian, single engine, delta wing, light multirole fighter designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in collaboration with the Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
