The Indian Army is not only known for its bravery and exceptional military skills on the battlefield but also for helping civilians in their time of need. In one such incident, an Indian Army doctor posted at Western Command Hospital in Chandimandir, Major Simrat Rajdeep Singh, saved the life of a civilian when he was travelling from Goa to Chandigarh onboard an IndiGo flight.
The details of the incident was shared by the Western Command on its official X handle. Within few minutes after the flight took off from Goa at 5:45 pm, one person complaint of uneasiness, reported The Times of India. Major Simrat came forward to help the patient. He resuscitated the co-passenger. The officer then requested an emergency landing at the Mumbai Airport.
The Indian Army praised Major Singh for coming to the rescue of the ill passenger. “#InServiceOfNation Maj Simrat Rajdeep Singh of #WesternCommandHospital,Chandimandir while on board @Indigo6E724 from Goa to Chandigarh saved life of a 27 year old critically ill patient. He resuscitated the patient & requested for an emergency landing at #Mumbai. #WeCare,” the Western Command tweeted.

Netizens also lauded Major Singh for his actions. One of the X users wrote, “So proud of you Major SR Singh. Indian Army in service of Maa Bharti.”
Meanwhile, another user said, “Well done Maj Simrat..Jai Hind Ki Sena.”
In July last year, Captain Anshuman Singh, an Indian Army medical officer, lost his life while saving his three fellow soldiers after a fire broke out in the ammunition dump at Siachen Glacier. For his bravery, Captain Singh was posthumously awarded Kirti Chakra on Republic Day 2024.
