New Delhi: Moments after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation, Pakistani drones were reportedly spot at 10 locations in India, including Jalandhar, Pathankot, Samba and Kathua. An immediate blackout was enforced in these areas on Monday.
Locals in Punjab’s Dasuya area of Hoshiarpur also heard explosions, reported The Hindustan Times. A blackout was also enforced at Vaishno Devi Bhawan.
Visuals shared by news agency ANI, showed red streaks in Sambha with explosion sounds in the background. Drones were also spotted over the North Command and Air Force Station in Udhampur, reported the media house. The Indian air defence intercepted these drones.
Blackout has also been observed in Amritsar as a precautionary measure.
The drone sightings happened moments after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on Operation Sindoor.
PM Modi’s address to The Nation:
PM Modi addressed the nation via videoconference on Monday. In his address, he remarked that the nation has witnessed both India’s strength and restraint in recent days. He extended his salute to the country’s formidable armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists on behalf of every Indian citizen. The Prime Minister highlighted the unwavering courage displayed by India’s brave soldiers in achieving the objectives of Operation Sindoor, acknowledging their valour, resilience, and indomitable spirit. He dedicated this unparalleled bravery to every mother, sister, and daughter of the nation.
In a stern warning to Pakistan, PM Modi said that terror and talks cannot coexist, terror and trade cannot run parallel, and blood and water cannot flow together. He also lauded the made-in-India air defence system.
Underscoring that unity is India’s greatest strength in the fight against all forms of terrorism, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that while this era is not one of war, it cannot be one of terrorism either. “Zero Tolerance against terrorism is the guarantee of a better and safer world”, he declared.
DGMO Talks:
Earlier in the day the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan held talks and decided to continue the ceasefire
“Talks between DGMOs (of India and Pakistan) were held at 5pm, May 12, 2025. Issues related to continuing the commitment that both sides must not fire a single shot or initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other were discussed,” ANI reported, citing Indian Army sources. Both sides also agreed to consider immediate measures to ensure troop reduction from the borders and forward areas.
On Saturday, May 10, US President Donald Trump claimed that he brokered a ceasefire between the two nations. Tensions escalated between New Delhi and Islamabad after India targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Operation Sindoor to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
