As the conflict between Iran and Israel intensified, Iranian state media on Sunday claimed that its air defence has downed three Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jets. According to the IRNA news agency, Iran shot down a third F-35 on Saturday, June 14, and the pilot was reportedly captured by Iranian army commandos.
Meanwhile, a day earlier, Tasnim News claimed that two Israeli fighter jets were destroyed during airstrikes, with one female Israeli pilot allegedly taken into custody. However, Israel refuted these claims.
Iran’s Army Public Relations Office also asserted that their air defence systems had successfully intercepted and destroyed two Israeli fighter jets and several drones. The fate of the pilots is still under investigation, according to Iranian officials.

If these claims are accurate, it would represent a major setback for Israel and the United States, as the F-35 is regarded as one of the world’s most advanced and elusive combat aircraft. It would also make Iran the first nation to shoot down an F-35 in a combat scenario.
Israel Dismisses Claims as Fabricated
However, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) quickly rejected the Iranian reports, calling them completely false. “Iranian media is spreading lies. The entire report is fabricated,” IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated as quoted by News18.
So far, Iran has not released any verified footage or images to substantiate its claims. As a result, skepticism remains high, with many international analysts and military experts questioning the credibility of the reports. Alleged photos of aircraft wreckage have also been met with doubt online, with observers pointing out inconsistencies in the evidence.
