Dehradun: In an inspiring and visually striking moment at the Indian Military Academy’s (IMA’s) Passing Out Parade (POP) in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi showcased his fitness by performing push-ups alongside the newly commissioned officers on Saturday, December 13.

A video of the moment, now widely circulating on social media, shows General Dwivedi joining the young officers on the ground to do push-ups during the ceremony.

The POP for the 157th Regular Course, 46th Technical Entry Scheme Course, 140th Technical Graduate Course, and 55th Special Commissioned Officers Course was held on Saturday at the historic Drill Square at the IMA. A total of 491 Officer Cadets (OCs) were commissioned into the Indian Army in the grand POP. The parade was reviewed by General Dwivedi. Apart from the 491 Indian OCs, 34 cadets from friendly foreign countries also completed their training at the IMA.

The ceremony was witnessed by proud parents, family members, senior Army officers, and distinguished guests. The parade culminated with the traditional ‘Antim Pag’ (final step), as the young officers marched forward, ready to uphold the sovereignty, honour, and ideals of the nation.

Addressing the Officer Cadets on the occasion, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) underscored that the profession of arms is far more than an occupation—it is a sacred calling that demands unflinching dedication, selfless service, and, when required, the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation. He lauded the IMA’s illustrious legacy of producing visionary leaders and intrepid officers who have time and again upheld the highest traditions of courage and honour.

The prestigious Sword of Honour was presented to Academy Cadet Adjutant Nishkal Dwivedi. Cadet Dwivedi was also awarded the Gold Medal (First in Order of Merit). Meanwhile, the Silver Medal (Second in Order of Merit) was awarded to Battalion Under Officer Badal Yadav, and the Bronze Medal (Third in Order of Merit) to Senior Under Officer Kamaljeet Singh. The Silver Medal (First in Order of Merit – Technical Graduate Course) was awarded to Officer Cadet Jadhav Sujeet Sampat.

The Silver Medal (First in Order of Merit – Technical Entry Scheme–46) was presented to Wing Cadet Captain Abhinav Mehrotra. The Silver Medal (Special Commission Officer) was awarded to Officer Cadet Sunil Kumar Chhetri. The Medal (First in Order of Merit – Foreign Cadet) was awarded to Junior Under Officer Mohammad Safin Ashraf from Bangladesh. This term’s Chief of the Army Staff Banner was awarded to Imphal Company.
