Major Boost For Indian Defence Forces! DRDO Successfully Conducts Salvo Launch Of Two Pralay Missiles In Quick Succession; Video

In a major boost to the Indian Defence Forces, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a salvo launch of two Pralay missiles in quick succession from the same launcher off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday morning (December 31) at around 10:30 a.m. The flight test was carried out as part of user evaluation trials.

Both missiles followed their planned paths and successfully met all flight objectives, as verified by tracking sensors at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur. The terminal phase of the tests was confirmed by onboard telemetry systems and sensors positioned near the impact locations.

“Pralay is an indigenously developed, solid-propellant, quasi-ballistic missile employing state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems to ensure high precision. The missile is capable of carrying multiple types of warheads against various targets,” the Defence Ministry said in a press release.

The missile has been developed by the Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad, in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories — Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Advanced Systems Laboratory, Armament Research and Development Establishment, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Research & Development Establishment (Engineers), and Integrated Test Range — along with Development-cum-Production Partners Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited, and other Indian industries.

“For the tests, the systems were integrated by the two Development-cum-Production Partners. The tests were witnessed by senior scientists of DRDO, representatives of the users from the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army, as well as industry representatives, including the Development-cum-Production Partners,” the ministry added.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh complimented DRDO, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, DPSUs, and industry partners on the successful launch of the missiles in quick succession. The successful completion of the salvo launch of the Pralay missile has established the reliability of the system, he said.

Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, and Chairman DRDO, Dr Samir V. Kamat, congratulated the DRDO teams involved in the successful flight tests and stated that the achievement indicates the system’s imminent readiness for induction by the users.
