Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday addressed the biannual Indian Air Force (IAF) Commanders’ Conference (AFCC-21) at Air Headquarters. Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria welcomed Singh, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday inducted Light Bullet Proof Vehicles (LBVPs) in a bid to enhance its capability to tackle terrorist attacks on its airbases like the one on Pathankot Airbase. The LBVPs can withstand even grenade attacks. Each vehicle weighs six tonne.

The Indian Air Force is participating for the first time in Exercise Desert Flag-VI. Air forces of United Arab Emirates, United States of America, France, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Bahrain are also participating in the desert. The exercise is scheduled from March 3, 2021 to March 27, 2021 at Al-Dhafra airbase of the UAE.
Garima Abrol, widow of Squadron Leader Samir Abrol, got commissioned into the Indian Air Force (IAF) as flying officer after passing out from Airforce Academy at Dundigal near Hyderabad on December 19. Last year in July, Garima cleared Services Selection Board (SSB) from AFSB Varanasi in the widow category. She joined the Airforce academy in January this year.
The first commissioned women officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander (Retd) Dr Vijayalakshmi Ramanan died on Wednesday. She was 96 years old. Wing Commander Vijayalakshmi Ramanan died due to old age ailments. She was a recipient of Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM).
Lieutenant Shivangi SIngh on Tuesday became the first woman fighter pilot of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF’s) Rafale squadron “Golden Arrows”. Flt Lt Shivangi Singh was commissioned into the IAF in 2017. She was part of the the IAF’s second batch of women fighter pilots. Flt Lt Singh is currently undergoing conversion training, and will become part of Squadron no. 17, which is based in Ambala.
