Vishal Batra, twin brother of Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra on Sunday paid tribute to the hero of the Kargil War on his 20th Death anniversary at 16,000-foot-high Batra Top. Commander of 14 Corps of the Indian Army Lt Gen Yogesh Joshi and soldiers of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and 18 Grenadiers accompanies Vishal to the top of the peak. Lt Gen Joshi was commanding officer of the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (JAK Rif) at the time of the war.
Vishal posted pictures of his visit on his twitter handle. In of his tweet, he shared a famous quote of Captain Batra. Vishal tweeted, “Either I would hoist the tricolor or I would come back wrapped… 20 years later (which is 7th July 2019 today), the Indian TRICOLOR furls yet again showing the Dominance of our Indian Army and it’s Brave Hearts.. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the victory in the Kargil War, Indian army also sent trekking expeditions to the Tiger Hill and the Batra Top. Northan Command of the Army tweeted, “Commemorating victory in recapturing of #PT4875, Trekking Expedition undertaken by 13 JAKRIF was received by #GOCFireAndFuryCorps at #PT4875. Unit had earned Battle Honour Mushkoh & Dras, Theatre Honour Kargil, 2 PVC, 3 VrC & other gallantry awards.”

Exactly 20 years ago, Captain Batra sacrificed his life while defending the motherland on Point 4875, which was named as Batra Top. The young officer had joined the 13 JAK Rif of the Indian Army. During the Kargil war, he displayed extraordinary bravery in the face of adversity. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra (posthumously).
