China on Monday claimed that the Indian Army soldiers fired warning shots on People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops at the Line of Actual Control (LAC). A PLA spokesperson said that Chinese border guards were forced to take counter countermeasures to stabilise the situation. However, India has not reacted to the Chinese claim.
The PLA also claimed that the Indian Army “illegally”crossed the LAC and entered the south bank of Pangong Lake and the Shenpao mountain area. Chinese called it “serious provocations of a very bad nature”. China also asked India to stop “dangerous actions”. Notably, troops of India and China have been engaged in a stand-off for over three months in Eastern Ladakh. The development came a day ahead of the foreign minister level talks which is scheduled to be take place on September 9. Last Friday, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asked his Chinese counterpart Gen. Wei Fenghe for restoration of status quo ante at all friction points in eastern Ladakh. The talks between the two leaders took place in Moscow.
