CRPF Constable Shailesh Gohil Donates Blood to Save Lives of Woman And Her Baby in Kashmir; Earns Praise on Twitter For Heroic Act

In a heart warming gesture, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable Gohil Shailesh saved lives of a woman and her newborn baby in the Kashmir Valley. According to a report published in CNN News18, A 25-year-old woman was facing severe complications while delivering her baby and had lost a lot of blood. Gohil saved both the lives by donating his blood. The CRPF jawan belonged to the 53rd Battalion of the paramilitary force. The family of the woman resides in Gulshan area of the Kashmir valley. When the woman started facing severe blood loss, her family contacted CRPF Madadgaar. The CRPF shared pictures of the constable and the baby on its twitter handle. The paramilitary force tweeted, “The relation of blood. Constable Gohil Shailesh of #53Bn donated blood to 25 yr old lady of #Kashmir who urgently needed blood due to complications during delivery. His blood saved a mother, a child, a family and created a bond for life.”

Gohil is being lauded on twitter for his humanitarian act. Prominent personalities including actor turned politician Anupam Kher and Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa lauded the CRPF jawan’s action.

CRPF “Madadgaar” is a helpline started by the paramilitary force for the residents of Kashmir facing medical emergencies. The CRPF launched the 24/7 helpline “Madadgaar” on June 16, 2017. Located on the outskirts of Srinagar, this helpline number receives hundreds of calls every day, not only from the local residents but also Kashmiris living outside the state. It is interesting to know that the Madadgaar helped around 250 Kashmiris studying and working in various cities of the country to safely reach their homes in the Valley in the wake threats made to Kashmiris living in other states of the country after the February 14 Pulwama atack.

President Ram Nath Kovind Presents Gallantry Awards 2019 to Indian Army, Paramilitary Personnel, General Bipin Rawat Receives Param Vishisht Seva Medal

President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday conferred gallantry awards to defence personnel at at the Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. He also presented Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) to General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff at the ceremony. The PVSM is the highest military medal awarded in recognition of peace-time services but not related to gallantry. Apart from Gen Rawat Fifteen lieutenant generals and three major generals have the PVSM.

President  Kovind conferred three Kirti Chakras and fifteen Shaurya Chakras to Armed Forces Personnel for displaying bravery. Two Kirti Chakras and one Shaurya Chakra were given posthumously. Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh was also conferred with the second highest gallantry award (Posthumously). He laid down his life in a fierce counter-insurgency operation in which three terrorists were killed at Pulwama in J&K in November, 2017. The mother and wife of late Rajendra Kumar Nain, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable, received Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) during Defence Investiture Ceremony. Among the defence personnel who received Shaurya Chakra are Captain Varma Jayesh Rajesh, Major Aditya Kumar, Major Pawan Gautam, Captain Abhinav Kumar Choudhary, Captain Kaninder Paul Singh, Gunner Ranjit Singh, Sapper Mahesh HN and Lance Naik Ayyub Ali. Indian Navy officer, Captain (TS) P Rajkumar received the third highest gallantry award for saving lives during Cyclone Ochki in the southern coast of India.

President Kovind also presented the Shaurya Chakra to CRPF personnel including Head Constable A S Krishna, Constable K Dinesh Raja and Constable Prafulla Kumar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were also present at the ceremony.

Pakistan is trying its best to create disturbance in the Kashmir valley, but Kashmiri youths unaffected by such wicked tactics of the neighbouring country lined up for the Indian Army recruitment drive. On Saturday over 2000 Kashmiri youths took part in a recruitment rally of the Territorial Army in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Amongst the youths appeared for the recruitment rally told the media that they were inspired by Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman’s bravery. According to reports, there were 59 vacant posts for four districts — Udhapmur, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. Earlier on February 19 also, Several Kashmiri youths took part in an army recruitment drive in Baramulla district. The recruitment was done for the 111 vacant posts in Indian Army. Meanwhile, on March 9, 152 Kashmiri youths after clering the rigorous training got recruited in the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JKLI) Regiment of the Indian Army. According to areport of India Today, One of the young soldiers Ishfaq Rasool hails from Pulwama, where the dastardly attack took place.

Addressing the soldiers of JKLI and their family, Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon, GOC 15 Corps, appealed to Kashmiri youths not to join terrorism. He said, “”I request all the mothers of Kashmir to please request their sons who have joined terrorism to surrender and get back to the mainstream. On February 14, 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred in a suicide attack arried out by Jaish-E-Mohammed (JeM) in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. After the attack, relations touched he rock bottom. On February 26, 12 Mirage-2000 fighter jets crossed the Line of Control and destroyed terror camps of JeM in Pakistan’s Balakot. In retaliation, the very next day, fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) violated the Indian airspace. The IAF fighter jets intercepted PAF aircraft.

Wg Cdr Varthaman was part of a team comprising of six Mi-21 Bison pilots who took off from Srinagar, apart from Su-30 MKIs, Mig-29s and Mirage-2000s from other air force stations. According to reports, the dogfight lasted for about 15 minutes, during which the IAF pilot managed to “lock on” to PAF’s F-16 and then fired R-73 missile. The IAF officer was released almost after 60 hours  by Pakistan on March 1.


Pakistan Navy Claims it Thwarted Indian Submarine From Entering Its Waters; Indian Navy Terms it as ‘False Propaganda

Pakistan today claimed that its navy chased away the Indian Naval submarine after it entered its waters on March 4. A Pakistani Navy spokesperson said that they used its specialised skills to ward off the submarine, successfully keeping it from entering Pakistani waters. The spokesperson further added that the Indian submarine was not targeted keeping in view Pakistan’s policy of peace. The Pakistani Navy also released a video allegedly of the Indian submarine. The video, shot from air, shows the mast of a submarine above water. However sources in the Indian Navy rejected the Pakistan’s claims. The navy said that it remain deployed as necessary to protect National Maritime Interests. The Indian Navy further added that over the past several days have witnessed Pakistan indulging in false propaganda and it do not take cognisance of such propaganda. Today’s development came amid the increasing tensions between both the countries following the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) strikes on Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camps in Pakistan’s Balakot to avenge the February 14 Pulwama attack. JeM claimed responsibility of the attack in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred.

On February 14, India lost over 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in a suicide attack in Awantipora of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack. The 22-year-old Adil Ahmed Dar carried out the attack. He rammed his car carrying 80 kgs of explosive into one of the buses of the convoy. A day after the attack, India scrapped the ‘Most Favoured Nation’ status from Pakistan. India also accelerated the process to isolate Pakistan globally. Countries around the globe condemned the attack and asked the Pakistan to stop providing safe haven to terrorists. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s all-weather ally China ducked the question of supporting India in declaring Azhar Masood, the JeM chief a global terrorist. While paying homage to the martyrs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a wow to give befitting reply to the perpetrators of the attack. However, Pakistan refused any hand in the attack.

In December 1999, Masood along with two other terrorists were released after terrorists hijacked the Indian Airlines Flight 814 scheduled to fly from Kathmandu to Delhi, and diverted it to Kandahar, where they were looked after by the Afghan Taliban and the Pakistani officials stationed at the airport. Masood then formed the JeM with the help of  Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Major terrorist attacks by JeM apart from Pulwama Attack of February 14:

  • On April 20, 2000, JeM carried out the first suicide bombing in Kashmir, exploding a bomb in an Indian army barracks. Five Indian soldiers were martyred in the attack.
  • In October 2001, JeM carried out a bombing near the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly, killing 38 people and claiming responsibility for it.
  • In December 2001, JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists launched a suicide attack on the Indian Parliament in which eight security personnel were martyred.
  • In January 2016, the group attacked on the Pathankot air base in which seven security personnel were martyred.
  • In September 2016, JeM terrorists attacked the Indian brigade headquarters in Uri. A total of 19 Indian soldiers were martyred in the attack. After the attack, the Indian Army conducted surgical strike in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
